There is something innocent and whimsical about vintage candy. Be it the holiday treats that you enjoyed while growing up, or the summertime candy binges that you relished with your best friends, we all have fond memories of the candies and treats that we grew up with.

But just because your old-school favorite is not stocked on the shelves of the grocery store, it does not mean that the vintage candy you grew up with has completely disappeared.

Here are just a few of the candies that we stock. 

Necco Wafers

This particular vintage candy has been around for quite some time. It was created by Oliver Chase, an English immigrant in Boston in 1847. It became a staple in U.S. military rations during World War II. This light and crisp, sugary-sweet, confection is available in 7 signature flavors including orange, lemon, cinnamon, clove, wintergreen, chocolate, and licorice.

Bazooka Bubble Gum

Even though the flavor of this vintage candy is fairly standard, it is actually the packaging of these chewables that made it an icon. Originally, each piece was wrapped in a comic strip showcasing the character “Bazooka Joe”. Depending on the nation where you live, these strips might be written in Spanish, Hebrew, or French.

Razzles

First it’s candy, then it’s gum! This jingle for this treat is almost as well known as the candy itself. Invented during the 1960s, Razzles happens to be candy that transforms into gum while chewing. The initial flavor which was introduced was raspberry, from which this candy’s name is derived. However, there are lots of other flavors which have been introduced over the years.

Sixlets

It is believed that these candy-covered, small, and chocolate-malt flavored balls were invented during the 1960s. It is believed that the Sixlets name is derived from the fact that you could buy 6 for a penny back in the day. At present, they are available in long cellophane tubes with special shades, depending on the holidays. 

Zagnut Bar

This particular chocolate bar’s name is so unusual that even its inventors sometimes make fun of it. This particular vintage candy first made its appearance in the 1930s. This chocolate candy is covered with coconut and has a peanut butter center. The name contains the term “nut” which is probably derived from its distinct flavoring, while the term “Zag” could be a reference to a well-known slang term of the 1930s.

Mallo Cup

This vintage candy resembles their more popular cousin, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. However, rather than a peanut butter center, the cup which is covered with chocolate, is sprinkled with coconut and loaded with whipped marshmallows.
